If you’re struggling to think of end of term activities that will keep the children engaged and inspired during the last few weeks of the school year, then don't worry - we are here to help! Invite students to experience an erupting volcano in 360°s, be a tourist in a small village in Ethiopia, do some career planning or consider YouTubing for good. Here are six fun and impactful end-of-term activities for secondary schools to make the last few lessons ones to remember. All the ideas can be adapted for different age ranges.

In these live lessons (running on the 6th and again on 8th July), students will meet Pedro the volcanologist from the Canary Islands in this brand new storyworld. They will discover how he and his colleagues study volcanoes and work hard to keep people safe and advance our knowledge. This live lesson, delivered by Lyfta, allows your students to experience the stunning volcano, explore and reflect on this fascinating place.

2. Be a tourist in Awra Amba in Ethiopia

Travel to the fascinating village of Awra Amba in Ethiopia. Explore ten different spaces in this village and meet some of its residents. Students can visit the school, weaving workshop, library, clinic and elderly home or be a tourist in the visitors centre to hear tour guide Enaney talk about the village's journey from food aid reliance, to thriving self-sufficient community. Access to the Visitor's Centre storyworld in Awra Amba (one of the 10 storyworlds in this series) is available with a free Lyfta Starter account.

After they've explored, they can consider and discuss where they would like to go for their dream summer holiday!

Do you have any budding YouTubers in your class, thinking of starting their own channel this summer? Inspire them to do something meaningful on social media like Marcel, the 20-year old Brazilian YouTuber who is teaching philosophy in "hood slang". The People's Philosopher is a brand new Lyfta storyworld from Brazil.
Through Marcelo's passion for philosophy, students can begin to gain an understanding of the subject and find out how social media can be a force for good. If you have a Lyfta subscription or the full free trial you can view the new content now.

How do you find your dream job? You design it yourself! For this activity, students can watch Marja-Leena in the Jewellery Maker's Room and see how she designed her own job and the steps needed to get there. Students can then think about how they might take steps to design their own dream jobs.

6. Social media exit slips

Invite students to summarise the year either in hashtags, through emojis, or with a playlist of songs. For inspiration, they can watch Emmaculate Jacobine who is a young fashion photographer from Kenya. They can follow Emmaculate as she captures street fashion and new trends in Nairobi, the capital city. They will see how she captures content and shares her interests.
