Lyfta News
On the 29th of September 2020, after 3 years of research and development, we were delighted to launch our improved platform, Lyfta 2.0. In this short post, I would like to summarise how we have evolved, thanks to the many helpful and constructive suggestions from hundreds of teachers and school leaders.

If you joined us before September 2020, you will have seen our three original storyworld series, The Awra Amba Experience, Secrets of the Opera and Dinnertime 360, and you would have had access to some lovely PDF based lesson and assembly plans put together by our education team. While we were very proud of everything on Lyfta 1.0, we had been meticulously collecting feedback from teachers and school leaders and knew that we could take steps to make Lyfta even more helpful for educators.
We first started designing Lyfta 2.0 in 2017 and it took over 3 years and several million pounds of investment to get to where we are today. As a team, we are thrilled with what we have achieved. We are also equally excited to continuously improve, as we have always done - by expanding the content available on Lyfta, improving and adding to the functionality of the platform, and providing even better support through our engagement and CPD efforts.

Here is a summary of the major developments:

  • 10 times as many countries to explore
We now have over 63 storyworlds (updated in November 2022) from over 25 countries, compared to just 21 from 2 countries a year ago. We are also adding content each term, with a commitment to add 20-30 new storyworlds each academic year, so that your students can enjoy a meaningful learning experience in a new place each week.
  • Search for skills, values, SDGs and curriculum topics
Lyfta is searchable - you can search for content and lessons based on numerous skills, values, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals and curriculum topics from KS1 - KS4.
  • 325+ ready made, National Curriculum-aligned lesson and assembly plans
Our expert education and content teams have developed pre-made lesson and assembly plans which you can deliver right away. These can be edited and sequenced to fit with your curriculum goals. Discover lesson plans which link to global events on the Lyfta Calendar. We have an 'Introduction to Lyfta' series of lessons called Lyfta Time which is a great place to start.
  • Interactive lessons that can be launched from school or home
Lyfta 2.0's lessons are now interactive and are an integrated part of the students' learning experience. We have done away with PDFs and students are now able to access Lyfta from school or home. Teachers also have full control over the content their students can access. It is possible to monitor progress and review students' answers on the teacher interface.
  • Teachers can still lead lessons from the front if they wish to
The 2.0 platform is optimised to invite students to do independent learning by doing lessons on their own devices. It is also impactful and effective to deliver immersive learning experiences from the front of the classroom by sharing storyworlds on an interactive whiteboard.
  • Additional CPD
After completing the Lyfta Time series of lessons there is so much more you can do to broaden horizons and impact learning with Lyfta. In the upcoming year we're excited to provide the opportunity for you to carry out CPD around mapping Lyfta resources to your curriculum and enhance your teaching of diversity and inclusion. As a subscriber you'll receive access at no additional cost.
