In September, we launched Lyfta 2.0 , a new version of the Lyfta platform with more storyworlds and additional features. It has been wonderful to hear how teachers have been delivering impact and getting the most of the new content and features over the last few months.

We are now delighted to be able to announce our first new content release for 2021, and introduce you to some exciting new storyworlds from around the world now available to all Lyfta users.

Lyfta storyworlds
We have five new storyworlds ready for students to explore; from Hong Kong, Afghanistan and the USA. Get a flavour of the new content below, and if you don't yet have access, please sign up for our free training and get access to all the fascinating Lyfta storyworlds free for 12 weeks of term time.
Fish Tales
Three of the new storyworlds are part of our Fish Tales series in which we meet a range of inspiring people involved in fishing and fish sustainability.
With 2021 marking the start of Oceans Decade, we hope that these resources, along with our existing Beachcomber storyworld, will form a powerful collection to open up discussion around the importance of our oceans and how we protect and care for them.

Everyone Has A Story

Kootyin, a young activist who records the oral histories of local people.
Kootyin, a young activist who records the oral histories of local people.
In this new storyworld from Hong Kong, we meet Kootyin, a young activist who records the oral histories of local people. Students will learn about how people have used oral storytelling for centuries as a way of passing on history and knowledge. They can explore storytelling, the right to protest, and the history of Hong Kong. Students can experience the drive to Hong Kong City from the countryside in an immersive 360° video.
We see a host of ways this powerful storyworld can be used across the academic year, but are really looking forward to seeing how it can be used to support learning around National Storytelling Week which takes place from January 30th - February 6th, and National Share a Story Month, in May.
Daily Bread
This storyworld features the owner of a small bakery in Kabul, Afghanistan. Students will learn about the traditional Afghan method of making bread, about different types of bread from around the world, and about trade and exchange. Content also looks at children that work, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Students can experience street life in Kabul through a 360° video of the market street outside the bakery.
This storyworld will add to the existing content about food from around the world, such as our Dinnertime 360 storyworld series, and will be ideal for talking about Real Bread Week from 21st to 28th of February and Nutrition and Hydration Week from 14th to 20th June.
